As some of you may know, almost 20 years ago, after two of my dearest friends were diagnosed with breast cancer in one year, I co-founded MOVING FOR LIFE and brought physiologist Dr. Martha Eddy on board to design a dance/exercise program especially for people like them. Our first class members were parents of young children, working full time, pursuing their dreams, trying to do it all, as well as recovering their strength and good spirits after a devastating medical diagnosis.

Martha was way ahead of the curve (her own mother had died way too young from cancer). There was no research back then, but we figured we were on the right track, when women emerged smiling and sweating after moving to the uplifting music. Since then, medical evidence has shown that regular aerobic exercise aids in healing and helps prevent cancer recurrence. Doctors and hospitals jumped on board to vet the program and women and men from 20-80, began taking the classes offered at Gilda's Club, the JCC, Queens Library, and many other locations throughout NYC.

Somehow, our little non-profit survived and even thrived during COVID, offering FREE daily classes online to anyone that wants to move, regardless of income or ability.

NOW, MOVING FOR LIFE is expanding to also help BABY BOOMERS (like me!) face the future and stay strong, social, and mobile as we age, with carefully designed, professionally led, regular sessions of joyful exercise.

Our Motto is "KEEP MOVING!" It's vital.

That's why we'll be hiking 6 miles through NYC's green spaces and hills on October 2nd. Please support MFL, so we can begin offering classes in diverse neighborhoods again (as well as continuing online) and keep these classes FREE so health can be a priority for everyone - regardless of income or physical challenges.
